Features

A♠︎

Make any icon into a deck

Right-click any desktop icon and make it a deck. A deck holds other icons, deals them out onto the desktop when you open it, and gathers them back up when you close it. It works on folders, programs and anything else, and the icon still does its old job. Click a game you've made into a deck and the game still launches. Click its deal button and the deck opens.

2♥︎

Deals out like cards

Choose how the cards come out, from a fan to a cascade, and adjust how fast and bouncy they are.

3♣︎

Decks inside decks

A card inside a deck can be made into a subdeck, with its own cards and its own deal button. Keep a Games deck with a subdeck for each genre, or a School deck with one per class. Leave a subdeck open when you close its deck, and next time they open together.

4♦︎

Make it yours

Give the deal button your own color, picture or animated GIF. Choose card sizes, a free layout that sizes cards by how much you use them, and lots more. Mods can add even more. A Smart Deck of your Steam games, a CPU meter, a solitaire game played with your own icons and two new deal animations come with it as examples of mod functionality.

5♠︎

The whole desktop as cards

Turn every desktop icon into a card so your whole desktop matches your decks, with springy clicks, your own highlight colors and your choice of font. Cards keep Explorer's right-click menu, drag and drop, and keys like F2, Delete and Ctrl+C.

6♥︎

Undo everything

Filing something moves it into a folder. Nothing is deleted. Undo puts it all back on your desktop, and so can uninstalling.

Where do my files go?

7♣︎

Light and offline

SolitaireSorter works offline. It only goes online to check for updates, which you can turn off, and mods only go online if you allow them. It installs just for your user account, so running it never needs admin rights. It's light on memory and steps aside while a fullscreen game is running.

Questions

Where do my files go?

Into a folder named Desktop Decks, next to your Desktop folder. Each deck is an ordinary folder named after its icon, so you can always open it in Explorer.

Will it slow down my games?

No. It does almost nothing while you're not using the desktop, and it stops watching the mouse completely while a fullscreen game or video is open.

How do I uninstall it?

Uninstall it from Settings > Apps like any other program, or run unins000.exe in its install folder. It asks whether to put everything from your decks back on the desktop or leave your decks as they are.

Why does Windows warn me when I run the setup?

Windows SmartScreen shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" message for new programs that not many people have downloaded yet. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with the file. If you got the setup from this site or the itch.io page, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". The Steam version installs through Steam, so you won't see this there.
